Summer Fun Food Drive

LifeSongs is celebrating Christmas in July with the great summer sno-ball fight against hunger! We CAN (like canned foods … get it? We’re collecting CANS!) make a difference and help leave hunger in the cold (Cold like a snoball … again, the puns write themselves).

We’re partnering with Second Harvest to provide food and resources to families all over Southeast Louisiana this summer. (Click here to see their summer food program locations.)

In Louisiana, one out of five children are struggling with hunger. And many of these have less access to healthy meals and snacks over the summer, when school is not in session. One in six people in Louisiana are food insecure, which means they do not always know where they will find their next meal. An elderly neighbor, a child’s classmate, a coworker, a member of your church – someone you know is hungry.

For over 30 years, Second Harvest Food Bank has been feeding hope in south Louisiana. Today, Second Harvest Food Bank distributes more than 22 million meals through a network of 240 non-profit member agencies and provides emergency food assistance to more than 263,000 people, including nearly 82,000 children and 40,000 seniors. Second Harvest Food Bank is leading the fight against hunger through food distribution, advocacy, education and disaster response.

Ready to help?

Bring your canned goods, non-perishable food items and donations (every $1 you give provides 3 meals!) to one of the LifeSongs Summer Sno-ball stops and get a FREE sno-ball from LifeSongs & Kona Ice!
