Surrender isn’t just a stationary place, it’s a continuous, daily process of waking up and letting go. NEEDTOBREATHE’s song “The Long Surrender” is about that realization, reflcting on the exhaustion of trying to control life and the peace found in submitting that control to God.

On the days when worry feels heavy and we need a little help fighting off anxiousness, we find that hope in the promises of God. Matt Maher wanted to share his song “Gonna Be Alright” as a reminder of those truths found in God’s word. He shares, “One of my favorite chapters in the Gospels is Matthew 6. Jesus talks about giving to the needy, praying, fasting, storing up treasures in Heaven and taking care of your soul; how you cannot serve two masters. He then concludes it by talking about worry; to consider the birds of the air and the flowers in the field; that if they are taken care of, how much more will the Father take care of you. To, ‘seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’ Every day has its troubles, and with the sun comes new mercies and the reminder, ‘do not be afraid.’ I wrote this song with some friends as a reminder of that hope and promise.”

Love, joy, peace, patience – are these characteristics that define your life? Becoming like Jesus is more of a marathon than a sprint. Lloyd Nicks asks for an extra helping of the fruits of the spirit on his song, “A Little More.” He shares that this song is a prayer. “When life feels heavy, when you realize you can’t fix everything on your own, and when the only place left to run is back to God. This song is about honesty. Admitting we’re not perfect. Letting God keep working on us, even when the change feels like a slow burn. This one’s for the days you feel stretched thin. Press play and lean in.”
