Good Grief? | Libby

I’m a creature of habit. And, at the start of a new year, it’s a habit for most of us to set new goals and do a little reflecting on the previous year. But, if I’m honest, I’m a little more reluctant to look back on 2020. Maybe you are, too?

This year was a doozy for most of us. Can you imagine how you would’ve felt this time last year had you known all that would happen by December? I’m pretty sure my head would’ve exploded. Personally, things really ramped up for my family in the final few months. We dealt with storms, sickness, and heartbreaking loss.

But God is faithful. Which is why I can still look back on 2020 and find ways He’s been at work, even in the midst of it all. I’m so thankful He’s with us, showing us ways to shift perspective and press on, not because the calendar has changed to a new year, but because of His neverending goodness and grace.

I once heard someone say that you should never let a crisis go to waste. So, as we start this year, I’m looking back at what God has taught me in 2020 with a renewed hope for 2021. The Bible tells us love is hopeful and endures through every circumstance. I don’t know about you, but I can look back on moments throughout this past year and see that it was through love that I made it. Love helps us keep going, to not lose faith.

As far as resolutions go, I’m not sticking with the typical getting physically healthy or out of debt (though those are great goals). I know I need to start with my mindset, my perspective and my heart. Would you like to join me? Let’s start here.
Happy new year!
