Changing Neighborhoods

In Blog by Jasmine

We are heartbroken over the news that Jay Weaver of Big Daddy Weave lost his battle with Covid. He fought an incredible fight with his health in recent years, and we know you have been praying for him. He touched so many lives for Jesus in his time here. Please continue to join us in prayer for his family. He is incredibly missed.
Big Daddy Weave has had such an impact in the lives of so many of us. They are so full of joy and the love of Jesus, quick to laugh and so generous in so many ways. They are genuine and kind. Chances are, if you’ve ever seen them or heard their music, you’ve felt this, too.

From first being introduced to them in the late 90s to their many visits to the gulf coast, they’ve had a great impact on our community. Like the time they came to LifeSongs to play a free show, but so many people wanted to come that they decided to play two so everyone could be there. Maybe you were there? Or the time they came with us to the Westbank to walk around and sing Christmas carols throughout the neighborhood, and carried those tunes with joy for the rest of us. Maybe you’ve got another memory with them that stands out. We’d love for you to share what Big Daddy Weave and their music has meant in your life.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Jay’s family and for his brother, Mike, and the rest of the Big Daddy Weave family, as we trust God to continue guiding them through this difficult time. We are grateful he is no longer in pain, knowing he is fully redeemed and with Jesus. His brother Mike said “I believe that even though COVID may have taken his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him.” And, like the lyrics of one of the first songs we heard from them, we know he is enjoying his new “neighborhood.
