Micah Tyler says his song ‘Praise the Lord’ may seem a little bit simple, but at the end of the day, it’s got a little depth to it. “If you look back at the text in Judges chapter 20, whenever Israel would go into battle, the tribe of Judah would lead the way. Why? Because Judah means praise. Praise is how we begin our battles. We fight our battles by loving Jesus and knowing that we can trust Him no matter what. In this world, there will be trouble, but we take heart because He has overcome the world. For that, we can praise the Lord.”
Cody Carnes shared the inspiration behind his song, “Firm Foundation (He Won’t) by saying, “In such a shaky season, it was burning in my heart to write a song that declared what Jesus teaches us in Matthew 7. It says, Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The world can be in chaos all outside our windows, but when we build our house on Jesus, we can have confidence knowing that our foundation is secure. We’re not going down! This new song celebrates that truth. I pray it blesses you.”
How do you define your worth? Rachael Lampa’s song “Somebody To You” is all about seeing ourselves, not through the eyes of the world or through social media, but through the eyes of a God who loves us the way we are. She shares, “It’s hard sometimes to cut through the noise, through the applause, the likes, and the follows, to tell us whether we are a ‘somebody’ or not or whether we have a purpose in our lives. When I left my record deal when I was younger, I felt like I had disappointed God and ruined His plan for my life. And now I know that all He wanted to say the whole time, all He wanted me to know, was that I am a child of God first and foremost, and that is all the purpose I’ll ever need to have. I don’t need to be impressive or important to the world because He has already called me His; He’s already called me a ‘somebody.’”
