Deal With It | Jojo

Do you have a strong willed 7 year old daughter like I do?

There was a time, although very short, when my daughter used to depend on me for everything. Unfortunately, those days are over! It’s a miracle if she actually allows me to help her with an art project, math assignment, or hair style!

Because she loves to do things herself, sometimes the activity doesn’t end up glamorous, (Like spilled milk all over the floor from trying to make breakfast!) but she is proud of herself for accomplishing it on her own!

Since I was once a hairdresser behind the chair, it makes me cringe when she doesn’t allow me to brush her hair! (If you see her and I in public and her hair is a hot mess, you know it wasn’t my doing!!!)

With that being said, she will brush extremely well the very front of her hair that she can see! When it comes to the back, that’s a totally different story! She struggles reaching it, but it also becomes very knotty. Her hair is oh-so curly and that leads to matted up knots.

She’ll bypass the knots, brush the front to be tangle-free, and go on her merry way!

That works for her…..until I get my hands on it!

What happens is that the longer you allow these knots to be unattended to, the more time it takes and the more pain it causes when removing them.

If she would allow me to help her deal with them when they are tiny tangles instead of massive matts of hair, then it wouldn’t be an ordeal on hair washing days!

Friend, what sin in your life are you just bypassing because you don’t feel like dealing with it?

The longer you neglect it, the more anguish you will feel when trying to remove it from your life.

The amazing thing is that the Holy Spirit is the one who can help you overcome and remove it! You can’t do it by yourself!

You WILL need God’s help daily! (They will try to return.)

As we kick off lent together, pray through this scripture:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” -Hebrews 12:1
