While walking in New York City, Matt Maher noticed a billboard that said “it can wait”. This simple message resonated with him, prompting him to consider how anxiety, stress, and other negative emotions could be entrusted to God. He spent time pondering the idea that these feelings could be “waiting” at the feet of Jesus, much like the concept of waiting on God for guidance and strength. It inspired his song, “Wait.” Waiting isn’t easy, but it’s an active process of trusting God and relying on His presence in each moment.
Do we walk the way of Jesus, or do we just “talk” it? Our lives can communicate the life-changing power of the Gospel. Let’s live in a way that points people to Jesus, not just in our words, but in our walk. You never know who’s watching and being drawn to the light in you. Ryan Stevenson’s song “Preach” is his declaration that “I don’t want to be saying empty, meaningless words, but rather let my actions towards others be an overflow of the love I’ve found in Jesus.”
From Corona, California, John Allan is a passionate worship leader and songwriter wholly unique in both his voice and sound. He shares, “My prayer is that people put on the song ‘Living God’ and are not afraid to believe again. Maybe even someone who’s jaded, who’s mad at the church, who had this wonder when they were young. I pray they listen to this song and are able to find that wonder again and to know there is a God who created imagination; and He’s planted that in the souls of His children. I hope it shakes cars and makes darkness run.”
Ben Rector’s song “Praying For Me” tells the story of how he became a Christian, crediting a friend who consistently prayed for him. The song reflects on how his friend’s prayers, alongside his own personal journey of faith.
