What Is Our Purpose? | JoJo

What is our purpose?

This question knocks on the door of our hearts. For some, it is grandeur. For others, it may be things that are a little more simple. But both serve an enormous purpose.

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5 NLT

We all play a very different part in God’s kingdom. Some are worship leaders. Some are ushers. Some are pastors or teachers. Some are involved in the music or children’s ministries. Some are involved in traveling the world sharing the gospel. But what do they all have in common?

The love they have for Christ. They want to be a part of something greater. They have a servant’s heart. They long for and desire God’s presence and want to be used by God.

But at what length do we go to be used by God in every capacity possible? We ask God for our purpose but when He reveals it to us, we say wait God! That’s not what I expected! Hold on God. That’s not it!

If God calls us to a ministry or to a place in our life that is unfamiliar to us or seems impossible, God WILL equip us to take on the task that He has set before us. He is faithful and He will give us the wisdom to fulfill the call that He has placed on our lives.  Obedience to God shows Him just how much we love Him.

“If you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14:15 NLT
“But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.” John 14:31KJV
When God calls us, there is always a purpose. He has a harvest in store for us. We just need to obey His call, say yes, and be a willing vessel.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Romans8:28
And when He does call us, let us use all of the talents and abilities God blesses us with, to glorify God and His kingdom and not use them to glorify ourselves.
“And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God is going to glorify me. He is the true judge.” John 8:50 NLT
