There are so many things in life that try to weigh us down. As a mother, I feel the weight of the world even heavier on my shoulders. Moms are the glue that holds the family together. When mom is out of commission, it takes a lot of patience!

There are so many hats, as moms, that we wear. It’s a constant back and forth between trying to equally be a great mother, wife, friend, sister and even church member. It can be so tiring! Trying to juggle keeping up with bills, bringing and picking up the kids from school, making sure the kids have lunch so they don’t starve and bringing them to and from tryouts or soccer practice ALL while having dinner ready by 5 o’clock! Does that even happen??!! It seems as though it would take super powers.

That’s where God’s presence comes in. Sometimes we just need to stop…and breathe. It can be so overwhelming and sometimes we feel like we can’t do One. More. Thing. We might explode! But, resting in God’s presence and meditating on His Word keeps us going. It keeps us grounded. It gives us a purpose in doing the things that we do as honor to God, and not just daily motions.

“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.” Jeremiah 31:25 NLT

In times of feeling overwhelmed and stressed, just be still in God’s presence. Maybe for you that means sitting in your living room with the t.v. off while the kids and everyone else is asleep, and you spend time with Jesus; listening to the peace and quiet and the settling of a busy day.

..sitting by the lake enjoying the sunshine hitting your face, the birds chirping, and breeze blowing all while thanking God for every moment of His beautiful creation. Maybe that’s your refreshing.

Refreshing comes in so many ways, shapes and forms, but I encourage you to find your place of refreshing. Whatever or wherever that looks like for you. Find those moments. Let God speak to your heart in those quiet times. It is there that you will hear and know His voice.

“You sent abundant rain, O God, to refresh the weary land.” Psalm 68:9 NLT

In the hustle and bustle of everything that goes on and happens in life… Just breathe in God’s grace and mercy and rest in His peace.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
