Today is Organize Your Home Day. That automatically makes me think of chores! Who has time or energy for chores? Fortunately, organizing our homes does not have to mean more work, we just need to work smarter. One of the smartest things we can do to organize our homes is to simplify.

Here are some ways to simplify your life, from imom.com:

1. Shed some stuff
Do you have a closet full of clothes but you can never find anything to wear? Me too! It’s time for us to purge! A clean closet lets you see the clothing you’re actually going to wear. And well-organized kitchen cabinets make meal prep and cleanup easier.

2. Take a long look at the calendar
It’s time to prioritize. Just because something is good doesn’t mean it’s the best use of your time right now. And part of that is learning to say “no.” We can’t do it all and, if we try, we probably won’t do it all well. Choose commitments carefully, and do a great job, with joy, on fewer things.

3. Do a career audit
What does your job really contribute to your life. It’s a tight job market, but identifying what you truly want will make you ready to act when the opportunity comes along.

4. Cleanup your finances
Few things can relieve your stress and restore your joy like getting a grip on your money. So straighten out that budget.

5. Unplug
Media consumption creates a lot of “noise” in your brain. Spend less time plugged into the digital world and more time plugged into the real one. Do something simple and soothing!

Here’s to a simplified 2015!
