SEE YOU AT THE POLE: Wednesday, September 24th 7:00 AM
This year’s theme: #NeverStopPraying
Never stop praying, especially for others. – Ephesians 6:18a CEV
The 2014 theme verse follows Paul’s famous passage on the armor of God, challenging and encouraging Christ followers to stand strong in the Lord and be His representatives to share the Good News of the Gospel.
From that very first year in 1990, See You at the Pole has been about one simple act—prayer. Today, SYATP is still about students humbling themselves, turning to God, and interceding for their generation.
There are two opportunities to prioritize prayer with your friends:
DAY: SEE YOU AT THE POLE day is on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:00 a.m. local time. All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at their flagpoles, praying for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. SEE YOU AT THE POLE is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for your generation.
WEEK: The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER (Sunday, September 21 through Saturday, September 27) encourages students to find new and unique ways, places, and times to pray throughout the week. Whether you attend PUBLIC SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, or HOME SCHOOL, gather your friends wherever and whenever and pray! The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER is dedicated to prayer and launching your on-campus Bible clubs, prayer strategies, and student ministries.
See You at the Pole, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. More than two decades later, millions around the world pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
SYATP is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. SYATP is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
One of the amazing aspects of See You at the Pole is the spiritual harvest that continues on. After students rally together at their flagpole in September, Bible clubs, prayer groups, and evangelism takes place all year long. Many churches work together to sponsor before and after the Pole rallies for students.
Whether a single student standing alone, two or three huddled together in unity, or hundreds gathered in front of the school, See You at the Pole is about students praying for awakening on campuses all over the world.
There are many See You at the Pole gatherings where dozens of students, sometimes even hundreds, gather to pray at their school flagpoles. Yet there are thousands of campuses where just a handful meet to pray. Regardless of number, God takes each situation seriously and promises to be in their midst. So, whether your school has a huge group that covers the front of the school or you have just two or three, there is power in each group.
What an amazing thought that on September 25, 2013, millions of people all over the world will be praying—each in their own language! God wants to hear your heart for your campus. So, will you join Him? Will you join your friends? Will you converge with your generation for a Global Day of Student Prayer?
For over twenty years now, See You at the Pole has been about students leading out in prayer, asking God to reveal Who He is on campuses all over the United States and the world.
On Wednesday, September 24, at 7 a.m., gather at your school flagpole, PRAY for your school, friends, families, and world. Ask God to reveal who He is to your campus.
