Um, does anyone else think 14 lbs is kind of a lot for a newborn?
A British baby has come into the world nearly twice the size of most newborns and ready to don the diaper of a 6-month-old. After six hours of hard labor and the aid of four midwives, Shaune Ellerton weighed in at 14lb. 7oz. His mother, Amanda Ellerton, 24, who delivered without painkillers, said she couldn’t understand at first why she was having difficulties since Shaune was her third child and she expected the delivery to be rather easy. "Once his head appeared I could see the surprise on everyone’s faces,” she said. “It was very painful but it was all worth it for our big bundle of joy." Shaune’s siblings — Alex John, 4, and Amy Louise, 2 — each weighed about eight pounds at birth.

Wow. And I thought we grew ‘em big in the South.
