Global Maritime Ministries is a non-profit ministry whose staff serve as the chaplains for the ports of New Orleans, South Louisiana, Plaquemine, and St. Bernard. The ministry provides a safe haven for these international visitors by operating seaferer’s centers in New Orleans and Reserve, Louisiana. At these centers, seafarers can call home, use the internet, transfer money home, talk with a chaplain, mail their letters, receive a Bible in their own lange, and have a safe place to relax. All of these services are provided free of charge by GMM. They also provide transportation from the ports to their center and back again – they also transport seafarers to church, go to the grocery store, etc. GMM exists to provide Christian ministry to meet the spiritual, physical, and social needs of seafarers and port personnel.

Global Fest is GMM’s annual fundraiser. The ministry is completely funded by donations – times are difficult, and the ministry is experiencing many financial challenges. Global Fest 2012 is entitled “Barbeque, Blues, and Blessings” and will have a BBQ dinner, entertainment, and a silent auction! All funds raised will help GMM continue to minister to the maritime community. Global Fest 2012 is Friday, September 28 at 5:30pm at First Baptist Church of New Orleans, 5290 Canal Blvd. Keep listening to LifeSongs to win tickets, and you can also purchase them for $15 here!
