The Compassionate Friends of the Northshore Provide Grief Support After the Death of a Child. Simon Stephens, founder of The Compassionate Friend says, “The Compassionate Friend is about transforming the pain of grief into the elixir of hope. It takes people out of the isolation society imposes on the bereaved and lets them express their grief naturally. With the shedding of tears, healing comes. And the newly bereaved get to see people who have survived and are learning to live and love again.” For more information about The Compassionate Friends meeting on Wednesday, September 19th, please call Donna at (985) 285-0321.

5: Did you know that there are over 4000 foster care children in Louisiana on any given day? As victims of abuse and neglect, these children are removed from their homes through no fault of their own. In Louisiana, there has been a recent decline in the number of foster families stepping forward to care for these children. Without an influx of families, social workers will struggle to find suitable homes for local children in need. That’s why Crossroads NOLA is working to mobilize the local faith community. Crossroads NOLA is a faith-based nonprofit that wants to see local children in crisis find a safe, loving family. For more information about how you can change the life of a local child through foster care, please join Crossroads NOLA for their next informational meeting at First Baptist New Orleans on Tuesday, September 23 at 6pm. To register and learn more, find Crossroads NOLA on facebook or visit their website – crossroadsnola.org. LifeSongs thanks Crossroads NOLA.
