Welcome To LifeSongs!

2013 is well underway! January is over half way over, and before we know it, February will make its appearance! And with the month of February comes probably the busiest month for the New Orleans area in recent history. First of all, of course, there is Mardi Gras. People in this area have lots of different opinions about this annual occurrence. Some see it as a time to enjoy parades filled with local high school bands and lavish floats, and to devour delicious king cake for several weeks. Others see it as a disturbance to their normal everyday life, with street closures, parade routes and the sweet smell of those king cakes tempting them to slide off course from their New Year’s resolution.

This year, there is also the Super Bowl. While Saints fans are disappointed that our team was not able to make it into the playoffs, let alone get all the way to the Super Bowl, we can still get excited about the fact that the eyes of the entire world will be focused on the city and region that we hold so near to our hearts.

Throughout this time, lots of people will be traveling to New Orleans to take part in all the activity surrounding the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras. This brings me to my challenge to you: Instead of ignoring these guests or seeing them as an annoyance/disturbance, lets welcome them with open arms! Better yet, lets see them as Jesus sees them, and, as believers, find opportunities to share with them what God has done in each of our lives.
